Get whisked away with Heather Whirl, Weather Girl, and her magical umbrella as she explores extreme weather and climate science in this new STEM chapter book series perfect for young readers ages 6–9.
Heather Whirl Weather Girl is a series of early-reader chapter books for ages 6-9 that includes information about weather, science, and climate change within the context of a fun fantasy. Heather and her best friend Edward, along with Heather’s pets (a dog named Fog and a lizard named Blizzard) travel via a magical antique umbrella to wild weather events across the globe. The four always assist and help in some manner, all while learning about the weather event. An afterword in each book includes Heather’s Weather Journal, along with notes from Blizzard and Fog. Safety tips and weather jokes are included, making the wild weather less frightening for young readers.
The first book of the series is “Heather and the Stormy Birthday.” The second book is "Heather and the Wildfires." Illustrated by Kris McLeod. Published by Astra Books for Young Readers/Kane Press.
